You might have heard that we are BIG fans of Valentine’s Day in our house. We love to love, what can I say? But all the extra sugar going around for the holiday can make for a bad scene, so I try every year to come up with something sweet that isn’t chock full of it. Once I spotted The Land of Nod’s Tropical Punch Baby Quilt, I knew exactly what I wanted to make: a healthier fruit punch!
Our kids are always after us to buy them those brightly-colored drinks that are absolutely awful for you. So I remade fruit punch with plenty of real fruit and no-sugar added juices, plus a little sparkle to make it more special. It did the trick!
Sparkling Fruit Punch Ingredients
1/2 cup organic 100% cranberry juice
1/2 cup organic 100% white grape juice
1 can sparkling water (I used La Croix Apple Cranberry which paired really well)
5 or 6 strawberries (I am OBSESSED with cutting the berry into heart shapes for the holiday: just cut off the top, cut in half, and cut a little wedge out of the top to create a heart shape)
1/2 blood red orange, sliced into wedges
1/2 apple, sliced into thin wedges
A handful of blueberries
1/4 lemon, sliced into thin rounds
- Layer sliced fruit into a tall pitcher.
- Add fruit juice and then 3/4 can of sparkling water.
- Place pitcher in the refrigerator for 1 – 2 hours to let the flavors develop.
- Pour in tall glasses and top each off with a little more sparkly water for fresh bubbles.
- Share the love!
p.s. this is almost like a sangria mocktail, so it would work equally well for adults looking to celebrate the holiday a little healthier too!
