Whattya need?
- Embroidery needle
- Colored cellophane
- String
- Gummies
How do I make the garland ‘curtain’?
Step 1: Cut string to desired length and width to fill your space. (We’d measure before cutting.)
Step 2: Cut shapes from cellophane.
Step 3: Tie knot in string, then thread with needle through center of cellophane shape. Tie another knot at desired interval and thread a gummie onto string.
Step 4: Repeat for length of string.
Step 5: Repeat for the amount of strings you desire to hang.
Step 6: Hang strings.

Try this: Paper Garland Swag
Whattya need?
- Scissors
- Glue or spray adhesive
- Parchment paper
- Yarn, string or clothing line
- Glitter
How do I make the garland swag?
Step 1: Cut string to your desired garland length.
Step 2: Cut shapes from parchment paper and fold in half.
Step 3: Apply glue or spray adhesive to the ”inside” of your shape.
Step 4: Apply glitter onto one side of glued shape.
Step 5: Fold shape over string, pressing glued sides together securely.
Step 6: Hang.

Try this: Rusty Cloud/Spring Mobile
Whattya need?
- Strip of aluminum strapping (approx. 1/8" to desired length, 24-36")
- String or yarn
- Springs (vintage machine springs or any other types of springs)
How do I make the mobile?
Step 1: Bend aluminum strapping to desired shape.
Step 2: Tie springs to string.
Step 3: Try saying “springs to string” ten times fast.
Step 4: Tie opposite end of string to bent aluminum at desired lengths.
Step 5: Cut a length of string and tie to top-center of mobile for hanging purposes.
Step 6: Hang.

Try this: String-Wrapped Lampshade
Whattya need?
- Embroidery thread
- Decorations (if desired)
How do I make the lampshade?
Step 1: Tie the end of thread to the armature inside the shade.
Step 2: Wrap string repeatedly around shade in any desired pattern.
Step 3: Tie off end to lampshade armature.
Step 4: Apply any details if desired. (We used yellow feathers.)

Whattya need?
- Folding rulers, new or vintage (as many as you want, depending on your space and desired design)
- Double-sided tape
- Hammer
- Nails, tacks or something on which to hang rulers
How do I make the ruler wall décor?
Step 1: Bend rulers into desired shape, using double-sided tape to hold shapes in place and/or affix ends of rulers together.
Step 2: Use nails, screws, tacks or hooks to hang the corners of your design on the wall.

Try this: Wine Cork Corkboard
Whattya need?
- Any picture frame, new or old
- Hot glue gun or any strong adhesive
- Corks (these can be purchased at craft stores)
- Colored tape
How do I make the wine cork corkboard?
Step 1: Use colored tape to tape over edges of frame to give it a new look, if desired. (We used colored duct tape.)
Step 2: Glue corks onto picture area, covering frame. You may need to cut the corks to fit snugly together.
Step 3: Hang.

Whattya need?
- Old blankets or afghans
- Scissors
- Milk crate box
How do I make the milk crate?
Step 1: Cut blankets in strips with same width as the openings in your milk crate.
Step 2: Weave strips through milk crate, ending on the bottom side.
Step 3: Overlap the ends to keep in place.
