It's our last summer before my oldest heads off to kindergarten, so we're going to make the most of it. We made a list of 100 things we want to do together this summer, and we're off to a great start. The best part is most of the activities are free or inexpensive and take little- to no preparation. I made sure to include some indoor activities for the days it's just too hot and the pools are crowded. All of the food items I listed are cooking activities we can do together. I'm really excited to make cars out of boxes then have a pretend "drive-in movie." I still remember the red and orange box cars my dad made for my sister and me one year. My son is way into astronomy, so we're going to make sure to let him stay up late in August to watch the meteor showers.
"The List" has taken center stage on our fridge. And my son so proudly places a checkmark or two on the list every day. I love it too, because it takes the pressure off of me to plan something exciting every day. What are your plans this summer?

I love this list...I just made a copy and put it on our refrigerator. My 4 year old son and I just went through and checked off the things we have done already and are planning our next adventure! We added a few things that he mentioned that weren't on here such as Make a leaf rubbing; Scavenger hunt; aquarium and make ice cream sundaes. Thanks

I love how most of the ideas on the list are FREE. I don't work in the summer so free ideas are good.

Thank you for sharing this adorable list! I love the way you used color and the little boxes (so it was easy to checkoff and still see what was accomplished.) I am adding a few activities for my 9 year old daughter (book club, learn chess, random acts of kindness, clean out and donate some toys...) I'll be framing the list so we can dry erase and reuse the list! I truly enjoy your blog!! ♥

Thanks for sharing! I am a nanny during the summer and several of these were already on our "to do" list. But my kids were inspired by your ideas and have each marked off their top 10 choices for more summer fun!

Such great ideas! The checklist idea is a great way to keep the kids interested!
The KEEN Recess Team is inspired by people like you who make getting outdoors a priority. We love hearing about parents and their children being able to find a recess outdoors in anyway! Looks like you hit the jackpot on this one!
Thanks for your input and expertise!
